Job Role: Unit Head- Project Finance & Syndications

Job Location: Muscat, Oman             

Job Requirement: Malaysian Nationality with Islamic Banking exposure.

Job Description:

  • Oversee the project finance portfolio.
  • Manage team of analysts, ARMs and RMs under you.
  • Business development.
  • Deal with internal stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Business Development and Planning:

  • Responsible for achieving Asset growth, funded / non-funded income targets assigned to Project Finance and Syndication department in line with the department’s annual business plan.
  • Initiate and lead new business development opportunities, on a bilateral or syndicate basis, especially towards large size corporates or government related entities to develop and grow the bank’s project and structured finance portfolio;
  • Maximizing the bank’s share of wallet across the client base by formulating and implement account planning and working closely with other product partners on bundled / cross-sell offerings.

Credit Assessment, Structuring and Monitoring:

  • Conduct due diligence of potential customers / transactions by evaluating business models, feasibility studies, financial projections and analysis of key project documents (EPC, Concession Agreements, Off take Agreements etc.).
  • Responsible for accurate analysis and assessment of all applicable risks relevant to Project and Structured Finance transactions including construction risk, completion risk, performance risk, off take risk, credit risk etc.;
  • Responsible to originate, structure and successfully execute large size transactions which includes preparing and negotiating transaction structure, term sheets, mandate letters, information memorandums, facility agreements etc. in coordination with legal counsel, syndicate banks and other stakeholders.
  • Responsible for portfolio’s asset quality maintenance and continuous portfolio assessment in line with the bank’s credit risk appetite, policies and procedures.

Corporate Administration:

  • Ensuring timely completion of renewals, documentations and other formalities by the team.
  • Coordination with other departments (CAD/TFD/Branch/Risk/Sharia/Legal/audit/compliance) for smooth operations in the accounts as per approved terms and conditions.
  • Ensuring satisfactory CBO, Sharia and Internal Audit ratings.

Leadership and Mentoring:

  • Guide and mentor direct reportees including a team of analysts, ARMs and RMs to help them deal with any complex situation in business development or ongoing relationship management or internal administration etc.
  • Keep the team motivated to achieve / exceed business targets for asset growth and income, while maintaining the desired portfolio quality

Training and Development:

  • Responsible for the training and development of team members via on job training and external training programs arrangements in coordination with HR department.
