Scientific Director

Our Client is a Global agency that specializes in solving business problems in the health and wellness space are looking for a Scientific Director

Principal purpose of the role

To act as a scientific and medical advisor and provide strategic insight to the client service and scientific/editorial teams.

To act as a client-facing source of scientific and medical expertise, for the benefit of the client.

To provide internal/external strategic support, insight,  and advice for new business opportunities.

Responsibilities

Client Service

Provide strategic scientific/medical advice to a wide range of pharmaceutical and Healthcare clients, tailoring and adapting our approach to meet clients’ specific business needs.

Act as a source of expertise in, and maintain a good understanding of the full range of therapeutic areas of CMC interest.

INTERNAL LEADERSHIP/LINE MANAGEMENT

Lead, coach and motivate account/project teams, providing support and guidance to team members on client and project issues.

Contribute to account team succession planning and resource forecasting.

Provide a professional perspective on quality procedures and editorial processes within and across accounts.

Develop close working relationships with team members.

Thereby enabling the provision of regular feedback on performance, both directly and to line managers.

Through effective line management ensure training, development and appraisal of all line reports, including Writers, Senior Writers, Principal Writers and Editorial Team Leaders as required.

Lead, coach and motivate an editorial team, providing support and guidance to team members on client, project or internal issues, as required.

Participate in staff recruitment by assessing the suitability of candidates, as required

Actively participate in the Complete Medical training and development programme, coaching individual team members and leading workshops, as required.

Liaise effectively with account team leaders and the Head of Editorial and Scientific Services to resource projects appropriately and to contribute to brand resource forecasting, as required.

Monitor, evaluate and promote Complete Medical quality processes and procedures to ensure clients receive class-leading outputs, as required

Business Development

Develop great client relationships and proactively engage with existing and potential clients

Contribute to new proposal development and participate in pitches for new business, taking ownership of developing the strategic insight component for all proposals, and presenting at live pitches

Serve as strategic scientific/medical expert in pitch situations

Juggle competing priorities in order to contribute to proposals and pitches in a timely manner

Produce appropriate client-facing business development materials in terms of content, volume and style

Strategic Scientific and Medical Insight/Added Value

Ensure clients receive proactive ideas and robust scientific/clinical input to assist and also challenge their own thinking and planning

Provide proactive strategic input/medical insight to the internal CMC teams

Provide guidance on strategic medical content by regularly reviewing outputs of the relevant account teams

Keep abreast of developments and attitudes in the worldwide healthcare and medical environment at industry, government and health service level. Develop sources of information, particularly through contacts with relevant people

Review outputs against the client’s rationale for work

Be flexible and responsive to team requests for medical direction and reviewing support

Ensure your outputs are of a consistently high standard in terms of quality and accuracy

Provide clear and appropriate direction for the projects you lead

Add value to the teams you support in terms of new ideas and better ways of doing things

General

Experienced in multichannel medical communication strategies, including digital media
